After two years, I am back home (NZ) … well, nearly! Here I am day 10 of 10 days at a Managed Isolation hotel (Rydges, Auckland) and I just CAN’T WAIT TO LEAVE! Three days in a not so leaky boat
We had one mission – Amsterdam to Athens AKA 2,869kms.
We needed to do it “quickly” but also within the bounds of our Eurail pass, which meant land travel was already paid for, and a significant portion of our sea pass was paid for – to put this in context, at the time we were looking the cheapest flights from Amsterdam to Athens as just over €400 for the both of us – our trip cost us around €260. Tips and tricks – Bangalore airport
I won’t lie, this is not the most exciting post I think I have made yet, however this one is completely in line with the “I wish someone had told me that” purpose of this blog, so bear with me.
I really wish I knew: that leaving the airport requires a toll, and it is not included in the taxi fare. Cost is INR 120.
Best hack: hold small denominations for this toll – they are distinctly unimpressed if you give them INR 500 note!
Entry requirements: At time of writing this, India had introduced the E-visa tourist visa for some country’s – NZ, Australia, Canada, USA & UK among eligible country’s. You need to apply at least three days before travel, and make sure you print it out for presentation at Immigration
