40th Birthday in Budapest

You may recall beginning of this year we made a decision to head to New York for my 40th Birthday, and as you may recall, that all changed a few months back.  Today was my actual birthday, and I awoke to snow flurries in Budapest.  We headed to the Gellért pools for a massage and a soak, and then wandered around the Christmas markets eating gigantic sausages and drinking Krampampuli – all in all, a very very successful Birthday!

New Zealand 40th

Well, the NZ 40th was just phenomenal!  In short I got to spend an evening with the people I love, eat fabulous food, and drink amazing wine!

I held the function at Hayes Common in Hamilton, and a big big shout out must go out to Andrew and his team – the food was amazing, and it was the little touches that made the night so special.  A bespoke wine list for my guests was just superb! Continue reading “New Zealand 40th”

Christmas in Europe, a reasonable consolation prize

Life got interesting in the Kiwi Roamer household this week…We finalised our visa documents to start the process of getting a Green Card for the USA, and have had to make a quick and swift change to our USA holiday plans.

christmas-jena-germany-christmas-market-by-rene-s-on-wikimedia-org1You will recall we made a decision to head to the USA for my upcoming 40th birthday, and THEN “won” the Green Card Lottery.  This was a fantastic and unforeseen blessing for us, but since finalising our Green Card visa application, have been advised to seriously review our pre-planned booking to USA for my 40th – on the basis that it may appear to the USA government that we are looking to seek work prior to confirmation of any residency visa.
