Athens was the final destination on our two month extravaganza that was winter in Europe, 2017. Having managed to find our way to Athens we were not too sure what to expect. We were foretold of a country on the brink of bankruptcy, suggestions of a Grexit before the year was out, and riots being held on a semi regular timeframe – regardless of whether any of this is true or not, we LOVED Athens. Three days in a not so leaky boat
We had one mission – Amsterdam to Athens AKA 2,869kms.
We needed to do it “quickly” but also within the bounds of our Eurail pass, which meant land travel was already paid for, and a significant portion of our sea pass was paid for – to put this in context, at the time we were looking the cheapest flights from Amsterdam to Athens as just over €400 for the both of us – our trip cost us around €260.
